A protest took place against cuts in the number of special needs assistants (SNAs) and in resource teachers’ hours outside the Dáil yesterday, September 14th.
Over 1,000 parents, teachers, children and community representatives marched from the Central Bank in Dublin to the Dáil gates, where a similar protest took place in July.
Speakers on the day included parents, children with Special Needs, representatives of Special Needs Organisations and of the Alliance Against Cuts in Education. People Before Profit/United Left Alliance TDs Richard Boyd Barrett & Joan Collins and Cllr Melissa Halpin and Socialist Party/United Left Alliance TDs Joe Higgins & Clare Daly were on the demonstration to show their support for the campaign.
