People Before Profit youth representative Michael Arthur said
“People Before Profit joins with Palestine solidarity supporters to welcome the news of Ahed Tamimi’s release from prison.
Ahed should not have spent a night in an Israeli Apartheid prison. She is a hero to all of us. Everyone, young people in particular, take inspiration from her courage and determination in standing up for justice against Israeli violence.
Ahed Tamimi has been freed but Israel’s war against the Palestinian people continues. We need to step up our support for BDS in Derry and across Ireland. The Derry and Strabane Council should implement BDS as agreed to by a majority of Councillors. We can all participate in BDS by making sure there are no Israeli products in our local stores
The harassment of the Tamimi family and their village must end.
The Irish government should expel Israeli diplomats from Dublin and end its arms deals with the Israeli Apartheid State.
The European Union should end its whitewashing of Israeli violence and its favoured trade partnership with Israel.
We will continue to stand with Ahed for an end to Israel’s illegal occupation of the West Bank, its imprisonment of Gaza and its apartheid policies.”
Ends.
